4.4.1.1 Against The Vile!; useless formation

4-4-1-1 would be a good system against the Villa. They usually play 4-3-3, so having two defensive midfielders with wingers and an attacking midfielder would let us counter attack when they push forward and lose the ball (lets hope they play Reo-Coker, eh). If they play Petrov, Muamba just needs to put a few tackles in and he'll lose confidence. Their pace is the only thing I'm worried about with Quedrue at left back....

what did i tell you?

I posted this one week before the vile game.

bruce will take us down playing this system (4.4.1.1.)

when forsell came on (2 strikers playing up front LUVERLY JUBBERLY) and scored i thought we would go on and win..

but with bruce playing the useless/boring negative 4.4.1.1 in the first half, its time to get rid of him NOW before its too late!

Can anyone explain to me why this is a bad system? I haven't seen many games this season but to me it seems logical that...

We are playing with 2 strikers, only difference between 4-4-2 is that the second striker (kapo) is playing just behind the first. This means that the second striker can get back and do midfield duties as well as getting in the area to take his own shots and provide a link between the Midfielders and the first striker.

Palacios played there today, and he is not a striker.

Nor is Kapo, sure he can play there, but he isnt effective there.

We play 4-4-1-1 like 4-5-1, not like 4-4-2.

Teams like Vile and Chelsea use it more like 4-3-3, with the two wide men (bagvonlagoor and young) acting as strikers, taking the ball off the front man.

Basically, we cant play 4-5-1, other teams can.
